Inter-Action: sections europeennes and specialist schools

Funding opportunities

There are several ways in which coordinators can resource their Inter-Action activities:
The Government's Globalgateway site, at: www.globalgateway.org.uk , has a comprehensive section on funding and programmes. Funding opportunities suitable for Inter-Action partnerships are listed below:

Staff and student mobility

Most of the funding available is administered by the British Council. Some coordinators apply for Comenius funding for staff and student mobility in bilateral or multilateral projects. More details and an application form can be found on the British Council website at: www.britishcouncil.org/comenius

School linking visits

Five day preparatory visits for staff can be funded through Comenius. Following face to face meetings and planning time at the Inter-Action conference, such visits are ideal for finalising joint objectives and activities. Find out more on the Globalgateway site

TIPD school-determined visits

The school-determined element of the TIPD (Teachers' International Professional Development) programme is aimed at schools in England that already have an existing active link with a school overseas (for at least six months at the time of application), and wish to develop the partnership further through a short study visit, based round a chosen theme. Visit the SSAT TIPD website for more information

Joint curriculum projects

Joint curriculum projects reinforce school partnerships, bringing an international dimension to any area of the curriculum. Funding up to £4000 is available for a five night stay for staff and students, as a working visit forms part of the project. Projects may involve one or a number of subject areas and are ideal for providing a focus for joint activities between partners in the Inter-Action programme, as applications must be written collaboratively. Details and examples of projects can be viewed on the British Council website

Lefèvre Trust

The Lefèvre Trust (delivered by the British Council) aims provides funding to support one-way or reciprocal visits that are part of innovative projects. Each partnership can apply for up to £10,000. www.britishcouncil.org/schoolpartnerships-france-lefevre-trust.htm

Support for French partners

French partners can join English colleagues in applying for funding through Comenius or the Lefivre Trust. A comprehensive list of financial support available for French schools can be found on the CIEP website
